INAUGURATION OF  INDIRA  RAMANA  TRUST AND SMT.SHAILA BHAT MEMORIAL DIABETIC EYECARE & EDUCATION PROGRAMME

“God has not created anybody poor. He has  given us  a body  , which is   a treasured  temple  .It is our responsibility to keep it  healthy” said Sri Swamiji while inaugurating  Indira Ramana Trust and  Smt. Shaila   Bhat memorial program(DEEP). The program was held at  Sri Bharathi Vidyalaya, Bangalore on 27th June, 2010.

This  trust started by V.V. Adkoli in  memory of his parents  Justice Venkata Ramana Adkoli and  Smt. Indira  aims to offer  subsized  treatment  to   poor people  suffering from eye ailments  and also to educate the general public  regarding eyecare  and diabetics. The main project  under the  trust is Smt .Shaila  Bhat Memorial    program DEEP(Diabetic Eyecare and Education Programme)

As the first activity of the trust, Dr.Arun Adkoli and Dr. Jayashree Arun( trustees) conducted  a week long  education  programme  on  eyecare  and prevention of blindness  at   Sri Bharathi Vidyala ,a school run by the Srimath. About 350 children participated in various competitions conducted by the trust  which included  essay writing, drawing  and quiz. The doctors also lectured on eye care. Several prizes were distributed to the students who thoroughly benefited from the program.

Sri. T.Madiyal, former DGP& IG, Karnataka Police, Sri. U.N.Bhat,  Chairman Sri Bharathi Vidyalaya, Dr. Sharada Jayagovind, Acadmic Adviser, Dr.Sripad Hegde,Sec. Sri Bharathi Arogya  Dhama were the invited guests.

Sri . K.G. Bhat, CEO of  Srimath and Sri. Narayan Sabhahit (trustees) graced the function. Sri swamiji  wished  and blessed success to the activities of the trust  and  said that  Smt. Shaila  Bhat(wife of Sri. K. G. Bhat)  was an ideal woman whose life is an example for others to emulate.
